MOSCOW, 9 November. The age limit for deputies of the state Duma of the date of election must not exceed 70 years – the relevant bill was drafted and submitted to the lower house of the Parliament member of the state Duma Committee on family, women and children Irina Chirkova, writes on 9 November, the newspaper “Izvestia”.
Amendments proposed to amend article 4 of the law “On elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation”, supplementing it with the following rule: “does Not have the right to be elected to the state Duma the citizen of the Russian Federation who has reached on ballot day of 70 years.”
Chirkova believes that the adoption age limit will contribute to the upgrade of Parliament, and will reduce costs associated with maintenance of deputies of old age. In her opinion, the age limit for parliamentarians must be the same as for civil servants (under current law, the age limit of civil servants – 70 years).
“We hope for understanding from the “United Russia” and onf, because they actively advocate for budget savings, and on the treatment and sanatorium-resorts, I can assure you that you can save will be well” – the newspaper quoted Chirkov.
As another reason why you need to enter an age “ceiling” for members, Chirkova called busy work schedule, which is difficult for elderly people.
“The deputies frequent and long meetings, lots of travel and work in the regions. We then blame the fact that the deputies in the plenary asleep or tired. Just everyone needs sooner or later to complete its work. The Deputy shall correspond to the time, to be modern and adequate,” he said.
According tchirkova, the parliamentary elections of 2016, more than 20 deputies of the current Duma made the 70-th anniversary.
