The world Bank will allocate to Tajikistan for 2015-2018 $250 million


The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Vice President of WB for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller discussed the implementation of the cooperation strategy of world Bank on Azerbaijan for 2015-2018 was announced by the press service of the President.

DUSHANBE, 9 Nov. Lydia Isamova. Issues of cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects of Tajikistan and the world Bank (WB), discussed in Dushanbe President Emomali Rahmon and Vice President of WB for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, the press service of the President.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on ways of effective implementation of the new strategy of cooperation of the world Bank with Tajikistan for 2015-2018, which includes $ 250 million mostly in the form of grants, reported the press-service of the head of Tajikistan.

“We appreciate the Bank’s engagement in Tajikistan, as feel his support in various spheres of development, particularly in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, support of the state budget, social sector and other priority sectors”, — said the President of Tajikistan.

Muller said that the world Bank is aware of the difficulties and needs of Tajikistan, including about the damage a result of disasters. “The world Bank is ready to expand cooperation with your country,” he said.

Special attention was paid to the issues of attracting investments into the economy of Tajikistan, allocation of preferential loans, grants, technical assistance, cooperation in the spheres of implementation of small and major projects, transport, public administration, economic policy, water supply, private sector, health, education and social protection.

The meeting stressed the need to prevent natural disasters, attract additional funds for shore protection on rivers of Tajikistan. There was also a conversation on the implementation of the regional project of power transmission line CASA-1000 and other projects of regional significance.
