Ukraine in 2016 will reduce the supply of nuclear fuel from TVEL


Fuel company of Rosatom state Corporation TVEL is now the main supplier of fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Kiev intends to reduce the number of postavsk from 12 this year to 5 next.

KYIV, 9 Nov. Ukraine in 2016 intends to cut supplies of nuclear fuel from TVEL (fuel company of Rosatom state Corporation) to five after made twelve shipments in 2015, said Monday at the briefing, the head of Ministry of Ukraine Volodymyr demchyshyn.

Now TVEL is the main supplier of fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. In the framework of the diversification of sources of nuclear fuel supply in 2014, Ukraine and the U.S. company Westinghouse agreed to supply us nuclear fuel for some units of Ukrainian NPPs until 2020.

“Of the 13 deliveries that we receive during the year, one Westinghouse in this 2015, 12 — Talovskie, next year it will be five from the Fuel element, i.e. increasing the ratio (in favor of the Westinghouse — ed.)”, — said the Minister.

Thus, according to him, diversification of supply of nuclear fuel to Ukraine continues.
