The Ministry of justice will inform the Prosecutor’s office about violations of the legislation by Memorial


MOSCOW, November 10. The Ministry of justice will inform the prosecution authorities about the violation of the legislation of the human rights centre “memorial”. About it reported in a press-Department service.

The Ministry reported that the organization had carried out a scheduled inspection, during which “revealed inconsistencies of the Charter of the organization of the legislation of the Russian Federation”. In addition, the organization is not represented on the audit of certain documents, informed the Ministry of justice.

Also, the audit confirmed the signs of “non-commercial organization performing functions of a foreign agent”. “In particular, the organization received funding from foreign sources, including from the National endowment for democracy (NED), and the “open society Institute” (OSI) and participated in political activities: it was suggested “unjust verdict of the Zamoskvoretsky court on the “Swamp case”, and also about acceptance to the Russian Federation the Republic of Crimea as “aggression of Russia”.

“By results of check of the Main Department of the Ministry of justice of the Russian Federation for Moscow would be taken, under applicable law, including the question of informing the prosecution authorities of the Russian Federation”, – said the press service of the Ministry. Did not specify what violations the Agency intends to inform the Prosecutor’s office.

Previously, the newspaper “Kommersant” wrote that after the inspection main Directorate of the Ministry of justice the human rights center “memorial” was an official act, which allegedly claimed that the members of the human rights centre “memorial” undermine the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, calling for the overthrow of the current government, the change of the political regime in the country.”

In the spring of 2013 the Prosecutor’s office ordered the human rights center “memorial” to register as NGOs – “foreign agents”. The organization unsuccessfully tried to appeal this decision in the courts.
