Pushkov: the Russian delegation will not return to work at PACE, have not yet solved the issue of lifting sanctions

MOSCOW, November 12. The delegation of the Russian Federation does not return to work at the PACE until a decision about the lifting of sanctions. This was stated by the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov at the meeting of “Open tribune” on the theme: “20 years in the Council of Europe: lessons and prospects”.

“I take it that is not yet resolved the question of cancellation of sanctions of the Russian Federation, the issue of returning to work full time in PACE to not be”, – he stressed. According to Pushkov “a key issue”.

“We have a position that was elaborated by the state Duma that while maintaining sanctions against the Russian delegation – the delegation of the Russian Federation will not participate in the work of PACE”, – said the head of the Committee. In his view, “this is the only correct position”. “To go back there, to be subjected to new sanctions – we can’t afford. This is not the position of Russia, the status of one of the main payers,” concluded Pushkov.
