Ukraine stops electricity import from the Russian Federation from November 13,

KIEV, November 12. Ukraine from November 13, stopped the import of electricity from Russia.

This was reported in an interview with correspondent. the representative of the company “Ukrenergo” because Bucio.

“Today, according to the application, the import of electricity capacity of 400 MW. Tomorrow’s applications will no longer be”, – he said, confirming that it will mean an end to imports.

The Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Volodymyr demchyshyn said earlier that Ukraine may stop importing electricity from Russia on November 11. The shortages have been caused by the withdrawal into reserve of the third unit of the Rivne NPP 1,000 MW in connection with necessity of carrying out of technical works on the project of construction of power transmission lines 750 kV Rivne-Kyiv.

Earlier the head of Ministry of Ukraine also said that Kyiv may extend contract with Russia to import electricity.

In January-August of 2015, Ukraine imported electricity from Russia in the amount of $56,311 million

The contract came into force on December 30, 2014 and provides for uniform delivery schedule up to 1500 MW.

In parallel to ensure reliable and uninterrupted supply of Crimea was signed the second agreement between a subsidiary of “inter RAO” Center payments and “Ukrinterenergo”.

According to Demchishin, to import electricity from Russia to Ukraine is advantageous because the cost of its own thermal generation in the country is higher than in Russia.
