VIENNA, 14 November. Understanding the need for broad international coalition against terrorism is growing, a pre-condition is inappropriate here.
This was stated by Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry and special envoy of the UN Secretary General on Syria Staffan de Mistura.
“It’s clear that yesterday’s horror in Paris should convince the last skeptic that terrorism cannot be justified by anything, but nothing can be justified, our passivity in the struggle against this evil,” said Lavrov.
“It seems that more and more strengthened awareness of the need to create the most effective, comprehensive international coalition in the fight against ISIS and other terrorists mentioned by President Putin. No prerequisites in this regard is absolutely inappropriate,” he said.
The fate of Assad
The participants of the meeting in Vienna confirmed that the fate of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must be resolved only by the Syrian people, Lavrov said
“We reaffirmed the principles agreed to in Vienna on 30 October on how the participants see the future of the Syrian state. Confirmed that the future of Syria will be decided by the Syrian people. It concerns the fate of Assad, and any other politician in the country”, – said Lavrov.
