Moscow. November 15. The mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko said about the growth of the budget of the Ukrainian capital by 30% and the ongoing negotiations on the restructuring of its debt.
“With the General decline of the economy by 10%, we increased the city budget by 30%”, – said Klitschko reporters during the vote in Kiev on Sunday, noting that the funds went to support the medical, educational spheres and restore the infrastructure of the city.
According to him, to receive these funds allowed, in particular, introduction of transparent procedures for expenditures.
Answering the question about the presence of debts of Kiev in front of foreign creditors, Klitschko told about the ongoing negotiations about restructuring. “Now there are negotiations, and we propose to reduce the interest we must pay, as well as to extend the period of payments,” he said, adding that the new loans will be taken only when there is understanding about ways of earning city money.
Klitschko also said that now there is a process of audit of the credits taken earlier for the construction of various objects in Kiev. As an example, he cited the case of a loan under Podolsko resurrection bridge crossing. “They took the money, the bridge is not built, metro is not running. I will soon be able to give information about where the money is, because now the investigation is underway,” said the mayor.
On 12 November the international rating agencies Fitch and Standard & Poor’s downgraded the long-term rating of Kiev in foreign currency to default level after the delay D by the city government regular payment on Eurobonds.
In Kiev on Sunday, the second round of elections of the mayor of the capital, which left the incumbent mayor Vitali Klitschko and the people’s Deputy Borislav Birch.
