The cost of a same-sex wedding in the U.S. exceeded $800 million since June

Moscow. November 15. Expenses for the conclusion of same-sex marriages in the United States exceeded $800 million since June of this year, when the Supreme court legalized their registration, writes MarketWatch.

According to a study conducted by researchers at the University of California, the cost of weddings in June totaled $813 million, and tax deductions at the level of individual States and localities increased by $52 million.

These amounts are enough to create a 9.7 thousand jobs in the hospitality, retail and tourism, experts say.

The U.S. Supreme court legalized gay marriage in all States of the country on 26 June of the current year.

From 1 July to 31 October 2015 about 96 thousand same-sex couples in the U.S. married, which is 10% of the total number of weddings. According to research firm Gallup, only such families in the country of about 486 thousand, in marriage about 45% of same-sex couples.
