Gazprom: Engie is increasing its share in the “Nord stream-2”

ANTALYA, 16 Nov. French Engie increases the proportion in the “Nord stream-2” with 9% to 10% due to the desire to have parity with other foreign partners of Gazprom; Gazprom retains control in the project, said the official representative of the Russian gas holding Sergei Kupriyanov.

“The position of our partners was that they would like to have parity and equal shares. Now they have equal shares, all on 10%. We are talking about fractions of economic participation, that is, the control we do not lose”, — said Kupriyanov.

Gazprom and French Engie (former GdF Suez) last week signed an Addendum to the contract of purchase and sale of shares of a joint project company (SPC) 2 Nord Stream AG, which is engaged in the implementation of the project “Northern stream-2”. The document envisages the increase in the share of Engie in the project to 10%.

Thus, after closing deals to acquire foreign shareholders of shares in the cooperative, the shares of the partners in the project will be distributed as follows: Gazprom — 50%, BASF, E. ON, Engie, OMV, Shell — 10%.

The shareholders ‘ agreement the joint project company for the construction of the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” was signed on 4 September. Then it was assumed that the share of Gazprom in the company will be 51%, Engie — 9%, other shareholders — 10%.
