Medvedev: participation in AIIB will raise funds for projects DFO


After the adoption of the agreement of the Asian Bank of infrastructure investments, Russia together with other countries, along with China, India will become one of the three largest shareholders of the Bank, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

SLIDES, 16 Nov. Russia’s participation in the establishment of the Asian infrastructure investment Bank (AIIB) will help to raise funds for investment projects in the far East and Eastern Siberia and strengthen relations with Nations in the Asia-Pacific region, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

“We will also discuss the ratification by Russia of the agreement of the Asian Bank of infrastructure investments that provide for the establishment of this Bank. After the adoption of the document, our country together with other countries, along with China, India will become one of the three largest shareholders of the Bank,” Medvedev said at a government meeting.

He recalled that the Bank’s authorized capital is 100 billion dollars, contributions are made in equal installments over the next 5 years.

“Russia’s participation in this project, obviously, will attract the funds of the Bank to implement investment projects in our country, primarily in the far East, in Eastern Siberia. And, of course, will contribute to the strengthening of relations with States of the Asia-Pacific region, which for us is now very, very important subject,” added the Prime Minister.
