Pushkov: against ISIS must fight for a new international coalition

BRUSSELS, November 17. /Corr. Asya Harutyunyan/. Against prohibited in the Russian Federation the terrorist organization “Islamic state” (IG) must battle a new international coalition. This was stated by Chairman of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov, speaking at the International conference on prospects of resumption of ties between the EU and Russia in Brussels.

“We have our differences, but this does not mean that we should not cooperate. We’ve had our disagreements in the 1930-ies, but this did not prevent us to create a coalition against Hitler. Today we have to create a new coalition against this challenge,” he said.


“Islamic state” (ISIS) – an Islamist terrorist organization operating inside Iraq and Syria. Established on 15 October 2006 by the merger of 11 radical Sunni groups. The core group forming the militants, who fought with American troops during their stay in Iraq and with the forces of the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

The IG recognized as a terrorist organization in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Russia (29 December 2014).
