MOSCOW, November 17. The joint work of China and Russia in various industries, including in the military sphere, is a major factor in stabilizing the situation in the world. It was pointed out by President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Central military Commission of China Xu Zelenom.
“We have to note that the world is not becoming calmer, unfortunately. And collaboration with China and Russia in all these areas, including in the military, is a major factor in stabilizing the situation in the world,” Putin said.
Welcoming the representative of the military structures of China, Putin noted that all previous agreements with China are implemented, including and military cooperation.
“I am very pleased that everything about what we with the President (XI Jinping) agreed, evolving, we are moving forward, including on the lines of military cooperation”, – Putin said.
The Russian head of state noted that Russia and China are determined to continue our cooperation in the military sphere. “We are committed to the continuation of military cooperation, our interaction in military-technical sphere,” Putin said.
The Russian leader recalled that just a day before on the sidelines of G20 summit in Turkey, he met with a representative delegation of China headed by President of China XI Jinping. “We had a thorough conversation on a whole range of our relations”, – said Putin.
China “strongly condemns the inhuman terrorist acts” in connection with the crash of the Russian plane in Egypt on 31 October, said in his turn Deputy Chairman of the Central military Commission of China Xu Qiliang. “We know that on 31 October the Russian plane because of the attack fell in Egypt, so here, take this opportunity, on behalf of the people’s liberation army of China also expressed sincere condolences to relatives of the victims,” said Xu Qiliang. The Deputy Chairman of the Central military Council of China passed Putin greetings from the Chairman of the Republic XI Jinping.
Colonel-General Xu Qiliang deals with the Chinese side, including questions of military and military-technical cooperation with Russia. In November 2014 he discussed with Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu these issues during the visit of the head of the Russian defense Ministry in Beijing. Then the Deputy head of HTC China said that “the strategic partnership between China and Russia entered a new stage of development, which makes us very happy”. He expressed the view that the development of this partnership “reflects the common desire of our peoples and plays an important role in maintaining regional and global peace”. “Sino-Russian relations are of great strategic importance,” said Xu Qiliang.
Xu Qiliang became the Deputy head of HTC China in March 2013 at the age of 63. He is a native of Eastern Shandong province, member of CPC since 1967. In 2004-2007 he was Deputy chief of the General staff of the people’s liberation army of China, and from 2007 to 2012 he commanded the Chinese air force. A member of the Military Council of the CPC Central Committee since 2007.
In his new post, Xu Qiliang has held several meetings with government leaders, including the presidents of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the then President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych (both in 2013).
