MANILA, November 18. Dmitry Medvedev called on all countries to unite in the fight against international terrorism. “My deep conviction that in this struggle we should be together”, the Prime Minister said to journalists upon arrival in Manila.
Medvedev stressed that, being divided, Russia and other countries will be able one way or another to combat terrorism, the question is, at what cost.
“Of course, Russia can live without those contacts, he said. – We will as before alone to confront terror and defeat in this fight. Probably, the West will be able to survive. The question is, at what cost?”, he said.
According to Medvedev, the reluctance of some Western countries to cooperate with Russia on the background of terrorist threats is short-sighted and harmful position against their own peoples.
“The attack our plane and the terrorist attack in Paris – the enormous human loss, he said. – These developments have exacerbated the global political agenda. War has been declared on the civilised world. The threat of global and alas, very real. The more strange is the position of some Western countries on Russia. Short-sighted and harmful for the entire world position, position, directed against own people”.
Briefly, according to Medvedev, this position may be formulated thus: “Let the world is falling to ruin, but with Russia we do not want to work”. “Yes, ISIL (the former name “Islamic state” – approx.) evil, but not absolute, not to destroy it to cooperate with the Russians, repeated the U.S. position and the European Union, the Russian Prime Minister. – We don’t like Assad and sympathize with Ukraine, Russia type – on the contrary, so no work, no normal contacts and discussion of the Syrian issue. You have your targets in Syrian company, we have our own. We announced to the Russian boycott, we will not be friends with them, let them be isolated. Something like that”. In this case, Medvedev noted, at this time blowing up a plane, killing in Paris, people are dying in Syria and other places.
