Moscow. November 20. Egypt in the current marketing year (July 2015-June 2016) pushed Turkey from the first place among the buyers of Russian grain.
According to the Deputy Director of Department of strategic marketing of CJSC “Rusagrotrans” Igor Pavensky, from July to October of this year, Egypt bought 1,997 million tons of Russian wheat, its share in purchases amounted to 15%. Turkey has bought 1,603 million tons (12%).
Egypt became the leader because of the Russian wheat until recently was more competitive on tenders of GASC. Including GASC chose her French wheat, which won the tender last season.
The decrease in deliveries to Turkey, Pavensky said that in that country “significantly increased the yield of wheat”.
For the corresponding period last marketing year, Turkey imported 2,749 million tons of grain with 18% share, Egypt – 2,093 million tonnes (14%).
Saudi Arabia, which imports from Russia mainly barley, which has pressed Iran and moved to the third spot, buying 1,409 million tonnes of Russian grain (11%). Last year she was in fourth place with 1,039 million tons (7%).
Iran imported 965 tons of wheat (7%) vs. 1,368 million tons (9%) for July-October 2014.

Azerbaijan, which occupied this place in the last marketing year, fell to sixth. “In Azerbaijan this year is somewhat better harvest than last year, besides in this market appeared the Kazakhstan’s wheat, total yield and quality of which has improved,” he explained.
The ten largest importers of Russian grain in the crop year, unlike last year, also included Bangladesh, Nigeria, Libya, Jordan. Came from the leaders of Sudan, Yemen, Georgia and Israel.
