MOSCOW, 20 Nov. Moscow is open to pooling efforts in the fight against terrorism in Syria and Iraq, the pursuit of a common goal must make allies of Russia, the EU and the US, said in an interview with the newspaper “Kommersant” the head of the Department of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on the issues of new challenges and threats Ilya Rogachev.
“We have consistently, over many years, we urge partners to join forces in combating common to all of us the threat of terrorism, to cooperate in good faith, on a truly collective basis, without politicization and ideologization of the problem, without the introduction of “double standards”. In the current environment, in our view, such cooperation becomes an imperative,” said Rogachev, answering the question, can we expect the resumption of cooperation between Russia, USA and EU countries on counter-terrorism following the attacks of terrorist attacks.
The diplomat noted that at present “bilateral diplomatic contacts with these contractors suspended on their initiative”.
“How long are they going to punish themselves, to refuse to accept our arguments, to explain cooperation in the field of anti-terror having to do with this conditions? Will they change their approaches to combating terrorism in Syria and Iraq? From our side, anyway, the door remains open. The President urged us to “look ahead”, i.e. to cooperate, and we, undoubtedly, will proceed, despite the fact that we have serious differences with the U.S. and most EU members views on the Genesis of the current terrorist “splash”. A sincere pursuit of the common goal should make us allies,” said Rogachev.
