The forum of gas exporting countries United States, world’s leader in the supply of natural raw materials. At the meeting on 21 November will discuss internal organizational issues.
TEHRAN, 21 Nov. The energy Ministers of the States-participants of the Forum of gas exporting countries (GECF) will meet in Tehran on 21 November, on the eve of the third summit of heads of States of the GECF.
“For the first time in the history of the GECF since its founding in 2001, the Islamic Republic of Iran intends to hold three events linked to the forum… In particular, on Saturday (21 November), will host the Ministerial meeting under the chairmanship of Nigeria and an extraordinary meeting of Ministers under the chairmanship of Iran”, — stated on the website of the GECF.
The forum of gas exporting countries includes countries that are leaders in the world in the export of natural gas. The organization was founded in 2001 in Tehran, established legally — 23 December 2008 in Moscow, where energy Ministers of member countries adopted the forum Charter and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
Participants of the GECF are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, and Peru participate as observers. The headquarters of the GECF is located in the Qatari capital Doha.
At the Ministerial meeting on 21 November chaired by the Nigerian Minister of petroleum resources is scheduled to discuss internal organizational matters of the Forum — the budget and election of the Secretary General of the organization. In the second half of the day, Iran’s oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh will preside over the meetings of the Ministerial meeting, which will be used to prepare a draft of the final Declaration of the summit and its agenda.
By energy Minister Alexander Novak previously announced that the participants of the Ministerial meeting of the GECF will discuss the implementation of a new analytical model of the development of the gas market developed by the GECF. Also, according to the Minister, may be affected by the situation on the world oil market.
A meeting of heads of States-participants of the GECF will be held in the Iranian capital on Monday, November 23. At the third summit of GECF is scheduled to discuss the prospects and strategy of development of the gas market, said on the organization’s website.
Russia at the summit will be President of the country Vladimir Putin. The Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters that the President on the sidelines of the summit scheduled bilateral contacts with the leaders of the countries participating in the GECF.
The head of Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Iraq and Venezuela have also confirmed their participation in the summit. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will participate in the summit in the status of an invited guest, because the state is not among the countries participating in the GECF.
Iranian news Agency Shana with reference to sources reported that the summit also plan to visit the secretaries-General of the Organization of countries-exporters of oil (OPEC) and International energy forum (IEF) Abdullah Salem al-Badri and Aldo Flores-Quiroga.
The first summit forum was held in 2011 in Qatar, the second was held in Moscow in 2013.
