Medvedev has urged to apply the criterion of indivisibility in economic development


Russia thinks it is not very true the creation of various private associations. Trade agreements should complement, not substitute for, the multilateral trading system, said Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev urged to apply the criterion of indivisibility to economic development.

“If we really want to make regional integration a full-fledged tool for development, it is necessary to apply the criterion of indivisibility and economic development,” he said, speaking at a meeting of the 10th East Asia summit.

The Russian Prime Minister reminded that the forecasts for most countries in the region have been revised downward. Serious risks associated with falling world prices of oil and basic commodities, the instability of major world currencies, reduction of capital inflows to emerging markets.

“Against this background, unfortunately, the temptation of creating all kinds of private associations. We believe that it is not very correct, because our goal is to make trade agreements complement rather than substitute the multilateral trading system”, — said Medvedev.

According to him, Russia comes to creating your own integration projects that link EAEC with a number of regional initiatives, including the “Economic zone of silk road”.
