Alexander Novak on the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting of the GECF held meetings with the Minister of energy of Venezuela, Qatar, Iran and Iraq.
TEHRAN, 21 Nov. The Minister of energy of Russia Alexander Novak on the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting of the Forum of gas exporting countries (GECF) in Tehran held bilateral meetings with energy Ministers of Venezuela, Qatar, Iran and Iraq discussed cooperation in the energy sector and the situation on the world oil market; with the Iranian Minister on the day will be a more detailed meeting.
“We meet on the fields with our fellow Ministers. I held meetings with the Minister of energy of Venezuela, Qatar, Iran and Iraq on the sidelines of the GECF summit. We discussed bilateral cooperation, the issues related to the development of our relations in the energy sector and companies. Addressed the situation with the oil market, as well as common approaches, positions to the issues that will be discussed at the climate conference in Paris,” said Novak.
He noted that he agreed with the Minister of oil of Iran “to meet again the other day and to discuss in detail issues of cooperation”.
Novak also said that they also spoke about swap operations on oil and gas.
The forum of gas exporting countries includes countries that are leaders in the world in the export of natural gas. The organization was founded in 2001 in Tehran, established legally — 23 December 2008 in Moscow, where energy Ministers of member countries adopted the forum Charter and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
Participants of the GECF are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, and Peru participate as observers. The headquarters of the GECF is located in the Qatari capital Doha.
