TEHRAN, 21 Nov. The Russian Federation has put up a candidate for the post of Secretary General of the Forum of gas exporting countries (GECF), said the press Secretary of the organization Nematollahi Akbar (Akbar Nematollahi).
“Nigeria, Libya and Russia fielded candidates for the post of General Secretary of the GECF”, — said Nematollahi.
“At the moment there is a vote,” he added.
The forum of gas exporting countries includes countries that are leaders in the world in the export of natural gas. The organization was founded in 2001 in Tehran, established legally — 23 December 2008 in Moscow, where energy Ministers of member countries adopted the forum Charter and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
Participants of the GECF are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, and Peru participate as observers. The headquarters of the GECF is located in the Qatari capital Doha.
