The sovereign rights of member States in the Forum of gas exporting countries (GECF), energy resources, the increasing role of gas in energy industry in the context of global climate change, as well as increased cooperation and policy coordination of member countries of the GECF – these are the questions proposed for inclusion in the final Declaration of the Tehran summit Forum to be held in the Iranian capital on November 23. This was announced on Saturday, Iranian oil Minister Bijan Namdar zangene on the 17th Ministerial meeting of the GECF, which was held in the Iranian capital.
“The Declaration emphasizes the sovereign rights of States of the GECF energy resources, he said during the meeting at the level of sectoral Ministerial Forum preceding the summit. The document draws attention to the role of policy coordination of member countries of the organization aimed at expanding cooperation and investments”.
“When you use energy gas gives the lower percentage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere compared to other fuels. Therefore, the role of this energy source increases as the planet faces global changes of the heat balance of the Earth and climate”, – said the Minister. The GECF is an international intergovernmental organization, formed in 2008 from a previously existing informal Association of countries-producers and exporters of natural gas. The first summit was held in Doha (Qatar) in 2011, 2nd in 2013 in Moscow.
Member States of the forum control more than 70% of the world’s gas reserves, 40% of the world’s gas and 65% of the global trade of liquefied gas.
