Phnom PENH, 24 Nov. The first ever visit of the head of the Russian government in Cambodia offers the chance to intensify bilateral relations, stated the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun sen, taking on Tuesday in Phnom Penh premiere of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
Hun sen, opening the talks, said that Medvedev “is the first Russian Premier Minister, who carries out the visit to Cambodia”, Recalling that in 1986 was only the visit of foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze.
“You, Russia bring the Cambodian people a chance, because they are one of the superpowers in the world,” said Hun sen, referring to his Russian colleague.
Cambodian Prime Minister Medvedev expressed condolences in connection with the attack on Board the Russian plane that crashed in Egypt.
For his part, Medvedev noted that “since the visit of Minister Shevardnadze have been many events that our country has changed so this visit certainly, there”. The Russian Premier stressed that Russia and Cambodia maintains good, friendly relations, and the task is to strengthen them.
Medvedev told a Cambodian colleague that has started his visit to Cambodia to visit Angkor. “We followed the Cambodian proverb: to see Angkor Wat, means not to see Cambodia,” said the Russian Prime Minister.
