Alekperov advised Russian oil companies to cooperate to work in Iran

Moscow. November 24. Russian oil companies to cooperate to work in Iran, rather than compete, says the head of “LUKOIL” Vagit Alekperov.

Before the introduction of Western sanctions against Iran “LUKOIL” (together with Norwegian Statoil – 25% to 75%) worked on the part of the Anaran block in Iran. According to the results of exploration within the block were opened two deposits – Azar and Shangule.

Following the visit of the Russian delegation to Tehran in early November Zarubezhneft signed a Memorandum of opportunities in the field Shangule. According to the Minister of energy of Russia Alexander Novak, other Russian companies interested to work in Iran, expect the formation of the new regulatory framework in the country to understand the conditions.

Alekperov on Tuesday commented on the interest of “Zarubezhneft” to Sangole: “I think ultimately we agree, because we made several proposals to the Iranian side. I during the OPEC meeting will meet with the Minister of oil of Iran.”

“I think that Russian companies should not compete with each other, and should create consortia. We know the field Sangole because it is part of the Anaran block, we worked there already. For me it was also new that there was interest voiced by our colleagues. I hope that we will reach common understanding,” he added.
