Medvedev remembers Yeltsin as a courageous politician, not afraid to make decisions


EKATERINBURG, November 25. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev remembers the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin as a strong-willed and courageous policy, not afraid to take responsibility.

“Boris Nikolaevich was a strong-willed, courageous politician who is not afraid to make decisions, he said at the opening of “Yeltsin centre”. – So it will remain forever in the memory of our people and in the history of the Russian Fatherland.”

The Prime Minister recalled about the day when I first saw Yeltsin on 22 March 1991 in the city Council. “Boris Nikolaevich has arrived and passionately acted, answered questions. The first time I saw him, and it was probably the strongest impression. I realized that comes a new era – the era of people such as Yeltsin,” recalled the Prime Minister. He added that he had noticed then, and another quality Yeltsin: as a high-ranking official (the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR), all day he worked at the Kirov plant and then spoke to the city Council. “This is the fate of any public figure who loves and protects his country, – said Medvedev. New Russia needed such a President as Boris Yeltsin. And Boris Yeltsin loved his country.”

The Prime Minister also noted that the Presidential center will become not only a way of preserving the memory of Yeltsin, but also the first modern Museum of political history of Russia. “The 90-ies of different names, but these years left no one indifferent, the Prime Minister said. – We all have our own memories of this period. For me personally these years were the years when our country began to develop a completely different scenario – this year for the free development of our country. With all the difficulties, costs and achievements.”
