Russian regions refuse to purchase Turkish products

“Seized over 800 kg of product, including meat, fish, confectionery, and fruit and nuts”, – said the Agency interlocutor.

As stated in the published on Thursday by the Ministry, claims and causes of non-food products – in particular, the light industry goods. “Failure to meet regulatory requirements during the year also identified among these categories of goods, light industry products, including children’s clothing, furniture, detergents and cleaning products,” – said in a press release.

As specified in the CPS, the Department for 2015 as a leading enhanced monitoring over the products from Turkey in connection with the identified non-compliance of quality and safety of certain goods.

Tkachev: Russia, if necessary, can substitute the import of vegetables from Turkey

Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation with reference to the statement of the head of the Ministry Alexander Tkachev said that Russia imposes tight control on food supplies from Turkey and will carry out additional checks at the border and in the workplace.

“The government of the Russian Federation requested the Rosselkhoznadzor to put on the enhanced control of the supply of agricultural products and food from Turkey, and arrange additional checks at the border and in places of production directly in the Turkish Republic”, – stated in the message.

These measures are introduced in connection with repeated violations of Turkish producers in the Russian standards, said the Ministry of agriculture.

According to Tkachev, recently the Ministry receives requests from consumers and trade associations on the issue of safety of agricultural products and food imported from Turkey. After assessing the situation, the head of the Ministry “informed the government that, unfortunately, on average, 15% of Turkish agricultural products do not meet Russian standards”.

How many Turkey products supplies in the Russian Federation

According to the Ministry, in 2014 the import of food and agricultural products from Turkey to Russia amounted to $1.7 billion and remained at the level of the previous year.

Thus in the total Russian food imports to Turkey accounted for 4%. For 10 months of 2015, Turkey has imported into Russia of food for $1 billion, which is 20% lower than a year earlier.

As previously stated the head of the Ministry of agriculture, Russia will be able to substitute the import of vegetables from Turkey imports from Iran, Israel, Morocco and other countries, and imports citrus imports from South Africa and Morocco.
