MOSCOW, 26 Nov. Negotiations for deferment of payment of the fare trucks on Federal highways was not conducted, the system “Platon” was introduced and works, said the representative of the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation.
Earlier on Thursday the newspaper “Vedomosti” reported that the Federal road Agency at a meeting with business representatives, where they discussed fee collection system for heavy trucks with “Plato”, has promised to create working group which asks the government to nullify the fare until 31 January 2016 or full year. It was noted that the Agency hosted a meeting of Department officials with representatives of large retail chains, food manufacturers, transport companies and business associations. According to sources, the meeting was not the last.
“On the eve of the Federal road Agency really met with large retailers. Talked about the problems encountered at the beginning of system startup. It was decided to establish a working group, composed of representatives of carriers, and Agency, and “RT-invest the Transport system” (“Plato” — ed.), the Ministry of transport. The working group will discuss issues as the operation of the system to improve it and make it more convenient for users. Any agreements about a certain moratorium on the deferred payment system was not”, — said the representative of the Ministry of transport.
“Moreover, yesterday the Ministry of transport stated that the system introduced and functioning. Were taken all the necessary steps to meet customers. As of November 26, the Federal road Fund has received more than 470 million rubles”, — said the Agency interlocutor.
System “Platon” has earned in Russia from November 15. It will charge tolls to trucks carrying more than 12 tons. Now the trucks will pay 1.53 per ruble for each passed kilometre driven on Federal highways. It was planned that in 2016 the fee will amount to 3.06 rubles for 1 kilometer. The money should go to the road Fund in compensation for the destruction of traces of heavy cars. The implementation of the system has been met with social protests and was accompanied by complaints of technical difficulties.
