The Russian foreign Ministry: UN has to respond to the incident with the journalists of RT and in Syria


MOSCOW, November 26. Moscow calls upon the specialized body of the UN on the issue of safety of media workers to respond to the attack on the journalists of RT and in Syria, in which several people were injured. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“The incident with Russian journalists RT and who covered the armed conflict in Syria, which by happy coincidence was tragic – she pointed out. – They have all the necessary identification marks media workers, however, were fired. As a result of this attack and some were injured”.

“This case should attract the attention of a specialized body of the UN on the issue of safety of media professionals, – said the diplomat. – There are lots of international law, universally recognized instruments for the protection of journalists in situations like this”.

However Zakharova was asked: “Those who fired Russian journalists, is too moderate opposition?”. “She (the moderate opposition) have posted photos of journalists on the Internet and signed: if you see one – kill”, – the diplomat noted.

A group of journalists – correspondent, Alexander Elistratov and reporters of the TV channel RT Sargon Jada and Roman Kosarev went to Syria under fire Monday as he was travelling to the city Dalmally, 20 km from the Turkish border.

During the ascent to the height of SUEK on cars with representatives of the media were launched TOW anti-tank missiles, one exploded next to the car. Kosarev received a concussion, Hada and Elistratov – shrapnel wounds.

In a safe place the Russians took the soldiers in the Syrian army, which occupied the height. According to the Syrian military, the fire fighters were prohibited in the Russian Federation terrorist group “dzhebhat EN-Nusra” from a distance of about 2.5 km from the neighbouring heights al-Nubi.
