Moscow. November 27. Russia will send in the next 10 years more than 22 billion roubles for cleaning of the Arctic territories, said the Deputy head of the Ministry of environment, head of the Federal forestry Agency Ivan Valentine.
“On the territory of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation has already carried out projects related to liquidation of consequences of mining and reclamation occupied their territories,” said Valentine, quoted by the press service of the Ministry.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the total amount of funds provided to Finance these projects, for the period from 2014 to 2025, is more than 22 billion rubles.
The press service noted that such a statement is a Valentine made in his speech at the meeting of environment Ministers of the Council of the Barents region in Karelia.
During the meeting, the members of the Council considered the issues of environmental cooperation among countries of the region, the problems of elimination of environmental “hot spots” of the Barents sheet, biodiversity conservation, and measures to mitigate the effects of climate change and adaptation.
The Barents sheet was drawn up in 2015. In it was composed of 42 environmental hot spots in the Russian Barents region – industrial and municipal enterprises, waste accumulation, polluted terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
