The Arctic lost sea mammal hunting

MOSCOW, November 27. Business Council of the state Commission for the Arctic suggested reviving marine mammal hunting in the Northern region. With this initiative at the Council meeting by the Deputy chief of staff to the Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug Yakov Kiselev.

“In our view, the revival produced by hunting should not adversely affect the prey of marine mammals indigenous peoples, but their interaction with marine industrial fisheries will stimulate socio-economic development of the region,” he said.

According to him, the speech can go about creation in the Arctic regions, processing enterprises, the products produced by hunting.

In the Chukotka Autonomous district he will propose to run pilot projects.

The state Commission on development of the Arctic chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. Its task is to coordinate the work of Federal and regional authorities and other government agencies in solving socio-economic challenges in the Arctic, development of transport, environment, international cooperation and national security. The commissioners are business, scientific and expert councils.
