Russia from January 1, suspends the agreement with Turkey on visa-free regime


MOSCOW, December 1. Russia from January 1, 2016 suspends the agreement with Turkey on visa-free regime. About it, according to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to the government decree on measures to implement the presidential decree on special economic measures against Turkey.

Russia has decided to suspend a visa-free regime with Turkey from 1 January 2016

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal security service and Federal migration service, together with interested Federal bodies of Executive power to provide for the suspension from 1 January 2016, of the agreement on conditions of mutual trips of citizens of the Russian Federation and citizens of the Turkish Republic in respect of journeys undertaken by citizens of the Turkish Republic, who are the holders of ordinary passport, according to the ruling.

The agreement is in effect from 12 may 2010.

As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin on 28 November signed a decree “On measures for safeguarding national security of the Russian Federation and the protection of citizens from criminal and other unlawful acts and on application of special economic measures against the Turkish Republic”, which decided to suspend from 1 January 2016, the agreement with Turkey on visa-free regime.
