MOSCOW, 7 Dec. The port of Sabetta in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district in conjunction with the uniform network of Railways and roads will open the gate regions of Russia to the World ocean through the Northern sea route, said at a meeting of the State Commission on development of the Arctic and the Marine Board of the government of the Russian Federation in St.-Petersburg the head of the district Dmitry Kobylkin.

“In 170 kilometers from Sabetta is a railway built by the gas companies for the development of the Bovanenkovskoye field. To use the synergistic potential of already established transport infrastructure and constructing the Sabetta port, the regional government initiated the project development of the Arctic transport corridor”, — cited the words of the representative of the Governor its press-service.

According to the head of region, components of the transport corridor are the combined bridge through the river Nadym, which was launched in September of this year, a linear rail portion from Nadym to Salekhard, the bridge across the Ob river near Salekhard, railway to the Bovanenkovo station and the railway from Bovanenkovo to Sabetta.

“The start of construction of the bridge across the Ob river will be the beginning of the implementation of projects financed by private investors. This means that the Arctic zone of Russia will receive a powerful infrastructure tool, able to solve the most different, the most complex tasks, including ensuring national security and increasing the defensive capacity of our country”, — said the Governor.

Arctic sea port on the Yamal is based on the decree of the RF government in the framework of the scale project on creation of the center for liquefied natural gas in Yamal LNG, on the basis of the South Tambeyskoye field. Shareholders in the project are the Russian company NOVATEK — 60%, French Total — 20% and China’s CNPC — 20%. Capital investment is estimated at $ 27 billion.
