Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has instructed the Ministry of transport in conjunction with the administration of the Nenets Autonomous district to work on the project to build a deepwater ice-free port in the Bay of Indiga.
MOSCOW, 7 Dec –. The state Commission of the Russian Federation on development of the Arctic has instructed the Ministry of transport to study the issue of construction of nonfreezing port Indiga on the Northern sea route in the Nenets Autonomous district, said the district administration.
“Members of the State Commission on development of the Arctic chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has instructed the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation jointly with the administration of the NAO to continue working on the issue of the construction of transshipment complexes in the sea port of Indiga,” reported the local authorities.
Before members of the state Commission were made by the heads and Deputy heads of ministries participating in the process of development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation – Ministry of economic development, the Ministry of energy, Ministry of environment and Ministry of transport. Also projects for the development of port infrastructure in their territories was presented by the governors of Nenets Autonomous district Igor Koshin and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district Dmitry Kobylkin.
“I am confident that the project to build a deepwater ice-free port in the Bay of Indiga is the growth point of the Northern sea route. The Indiga, a very favorable geographical position, the number of components of the infrastructure are already included in the program socially-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation until 2020. But for the further design, we need Federal support,” — said the head of the NAO Koshin.
