MOSCOW, December 9. Russia does not intend to deploy airbase in Syria, as this is not necessary, said the official, the official representative of the Ministry of defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov.
He commented on relevant posts of the foreign media.
“No need to be a deep military expert to understand that the base Hamim, where is the Russian air group, to either edge of Syria, only requires 30-40 minutes of flying any Russian aircraft. Therefore, no operational requirement for deployment of Russian “air bases” in Syria, as far-fetched “deep strategy” was not”, – said Konashenkov.
He noted that the rumors about the deployment of a new Russian airbase in the area of the settlement Shirat appeared “immediately after the attack in the Syrian sky Turkish F-16 fighter of the Russian su-24 bomber”. The representative of the Ministry of defense stated that in this way certain foreign media are trying to distract public attention from the tragedy, various rumors.
