Novak: Russia began shipment of coking coal to Ukraine

The Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier met with members of the government said that the Russian authorities should ensure the restoration of supplies of coal to Ukraine.

MOSCOW, 10 Dec. Shipment of coking coal to Ukraine from Russia has already begun, told reporters energy Minister Alexander Novak.

“Yesterday was the President’s order to resume delivery. Coking coal shipments have already begun,” — said Novak.

Coal supplies to Ukraine were suspended after energoblok of Crimea. The Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday at a meeting with members of the government said that the Russian authorities should ensure the restoration of supplies of coal to Ukraine.

In addition, the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s Republic in late November halted the delivery of coal to Kiev-controlled territory and has said it will not resume them until, until Ukraine restores power supply to the Crimea. Ukraine in the night of 8 December has resumed electricity supplies to Crimea on one of the four transmission lines.
