MOSCOW, 11 Dec. Russia already in the beginning of next year to file a lawsuit in connection with non-payment of Ukraine debt, said a senior source in the economic block of the government.
The interlocutor of the Agency reminded that the deadline for payment of duty on December 20. Answering the question about the possible timing of the filing of the lawsuit, the source said that Russia has the right to apply within 10 days from the due payments. “The 20th (of December) plus ten days,” he said.
“Probably, Yes,” said the source, replying, does this mean that Russia will sue early next year.
The maturity of the Ukrainian Eurobonds for $ 3 billion, bought by Russia in late 2013, comes on December 20. Russia has previously expressed a willingness to restructure the debt, allowing it to repay one billion in 2016-2018, subject to the provision of guarantees for it from the authorities of the United States or the EU, or one of the international financial institutions.
However, as said on Wednesday the Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov, foreign partners refused to give such guarantees. After that the Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet to sue the Ukraine, if that will not repay the debt to Russia to $ 3 billion.
