The Russian foreign Ministry hopes that the visit Kerry will contribute to the normalization of relations with the U.S.

The foreign Ministry has noticed that Russia actively works with U.S. and other partners “to create conditions for launching the political process” in Syria based on Geneva communiqué of 2012.

“In trade and economic sphere, most American companies want to continue working on the Russian market, – noted in the Ministry. Despite the sanctions, the bilateral trade volume in 2014 increased by 5.6 percent to 29.2 billion dollars.” In the current year, continued in the foreign Ministry, “the mutual trade shows a negative trend, a decrease of 30%”.

In Moscow regularly put the question “on the settlement of the problems created by Washington in the bilateral agenda even before the crisis in Ukraine.”

The U.S. state Department also confirmed the information about the visit of Secretary of state and his meeting with the head of the Russian foreign Ministry and Vladimir Putin. About this informed the official representative of US state Department mark Toner.

According to him, the meetings will discuss the situation in Syria and the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia), as well as the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements.
