“LUKOIL” has received a license to the East-Taimyr area, which struggled with “Rosneft”

MOSCOW, December 14. The Federal Agency for subsoil use (Rosnedra) issued a license to “LUKOIL-Western Siberia” (“a daughter” “LUKOIL”) for the right to use the Eastern Taimyr the subsoil plot, located in the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district of Krasnoyarsk Krai. This was reported in the press release of the Russian company.

It is noted that the license was issued for a period of 27 years. The area East of the Taimyr area is 13 800 sq. km.

“As a result of obtaining a license for subsoil use of the East-Taimyr area of LUKOIL significantly increased its hydrocarbon resources, if successful, exploration will open up new prospects of oil and gas in a new region of Eastern Siberia”, – stated in the message.

On 16 November the Moscow arbitration court of Moscow has recognized lawful the decision of Rosnedra to issue the license at the East – Taimyr area of the company “LUKOIL-Western Siberia”.

As reported earlier, Rosneft announced that it will appeal to the court for a decision on the East-Taimyr area. The company believes that competition for this site was held with violations.

The amount of the starting payment for the right to use the land amounted to 2 billion rubles. The resources of this area, adjacent to the shelf, amount to 4.5 million tons of oil and 9.3 billion cubic meters of gas and 0.5 million tons of condensate.
