Media: Toshiba will leave the Russian market of televisions and kitchen appliances

MOSCOW, December 14. The Japanese company Toshiba liquidates Russian sales of televisions and kitchen appliances Toshiba CIS, the newspaper “Kommersant”. According to the newspaper, Toshiba will leave in Russia only b2b division “Toshiba Rus” cooperates with “Mail of Russia”, Sberbank and Power machines.

“We completely left the consumer market of the Russian Federation. We sold all the goods as early as last December, when there was a large peak of sales”, – said the publication Director of “Toshiba Rus” Hiroaki Tezuka.

According to him, in the segment of TV’s biggest rivals were Samsung and LG, where the Korean companies have a market share of 70%. Toshiba in 2012-2013 accounted for around 10% of the Russian television market, said Hiroaki Tezuka.

The head of mission of the Japanese organization on development of foreign trade (JETRO) Kenichiro Nomura said “Kommersant” that Toshiba did not inform him about the withdrawal from the consumer market of Russia.

“While we have not received this information. The decision of each company, because the Russian economy is in crisis. Naturally, companies cut back on something,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that Toshiba plans to exit the business on manufacture of TVs, selling their businesses abroad.
