The Confederation of labour of Russia called on truck drivers to form a Union

MOSCOW, December 14. Confederation of labour of Russia (KTR), the second largest trade Union Association in the country, called on truck drivers to form a Union. This is stated in the statement of the Executive Committee of the CTD, the text of which is available.

“KTR urges all drivers of heavy vehicles, regardless of the form of employment, to unite in the unions and real interaction”, – the document says. The authors are convinced that “an independent, representative, democratic and self-governing trade Union needs to become their own voice of drivers is heard over all other voices able to speak with each employee at the bottom and with each employer or the officer at the top”.

The CTD indicates a number of significant problems in the industry, and not only on the collection system of heavy vehicles “Plato”, but at reducing prices for transportation, “the increase in fuel prices, reduction of trade”, as well as difficult working conditions.

“Small unrealistic delivery times, increase working hours, the narrow confines of the stipulated time of arrival of the goods has become common practice. All this together causes drivers to go on many hours of processing, to prevent an overload, to save on depreciation and maintenance of vehicles. This situation creates danger not only for the employee but for all road users”, – reads the statement of the CTD.

The Confederation of labour of Russia recalls that the truckers unions exist all over the world. “They combine drivers of different types of employment to solve common problems. They set the standards of employment and payment, which must fulfil and direct employers, and customers, and monitor compliance with these standards,” explained Union leaders.

In his statement, KTR assured truck drivers ready to provide “all possible methodological, organizational, resource and solidarity in the creation of their own organizations, in the implementation of their claims and root interests.”
