Putin’s conversation with Lavrov and Kerry behind closed doors lasted more than three hours


MOSCOW, December 15. In the Kremlin the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry.

In negotiations that lasted more than three hours, the Russian side was also attended by the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, on the American side assistant Secretary of state Victoria Nuland, special assistant to the U.S. President for Russia Celeste Wallander and the US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft.

In the beginning of the meeting Putin said that Lavrov reported on the results of prior extensive negotiations of foreign Ministers of the two countries, on proposals the U.S., including in the sphere of settlement of the Syrian crisis, and some of the issues that “require further discussion”.

The Russian leader noted that he was very glad to talk with U.S. Secretary of state on all these issues.

The main part of the meetings were held behind closed doors.

“Require additional discussion”

In the beginning of the meeting Putin stated that Lavrov reported on the results of extensive negotiations of foreign Ministers of the two countries, on proposals the U.S., including in the sphere of settlement of the Syrian crisis, and some of the issues that “require further discussion”.

The previous meeting between the Russian President and the U.S. Secretary of state, which took place on 12 may in Sochi, lasted more than four hours.

As Kerry spent the day in Moscow

Earlier it was reported that after talks with Lavrov, Kerry, who is on a working visit to Moscow, took a walk through the Old Arbat.

On the Arbat U.S. Secretary of state, appeared in Moscow on the eve of the festive season, looked in one of the many shops with Souvenirs. “Kerry took the time to go for gifts on the Arbat,” – said the press Secretary of the American Embassy in Moscow William Stevens.
