Authorities and business discussed the development strategy of the Leningrad region


The participants worked all day in the format of round tables, all of them divided into groups, where developed, and then at the final meeting presented project initiatives for inclusion in the strategy.

St. PETERSBURG, 16 Dec. Representatives of business and government of the Leningrad region discussed the strategy for socio-economic development of the region for the period until 2030, the press service of the regional government.

“The session gathered to discuss business, the government and heads of the regional committees, deputies of regional Legislative Assembly, heads of regions and representatives of academia, public agencies, including the Agency for strategic initiatives, Leningrad chamber of Commerce and Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of the region”, — is told in the message.

The participants worked all day in the format of round tables, all of them divided into groups, where developed, and then at the final meeting presented project initiatives for inclusion in the strategy. In particular, discussions were held on such topics as “Industrial leadership” and “food safety”, “Modern transport and logistics complex”, “Health”, “Vocational education”, “Comfortable settlements”.

“The development strategy of the Leningrad region should correspond to the present time, the terms for our purposes. Looking ahead, we have to be pragmatic optimists. You need a strategy to make a “living” document, it is impossible to pigeonhole. Support the implementation of the strategy should be based on the project approach, the only way it will really work document”, — said the head of the region Alexander Drozdenko, opening the final session.

Proposals, additions will be made to the draft strategy before the end of December, after which the document will be submitted for public discussion.

The decision to prepare the “Strategy of socio-economic development of Leningrad region till 2030” was adopted in 2015 due to the changed political and economic conditions, the need to update the guidelines for the development of the 47th region, but also in connection with the adoption of the new Federal law “On strategic planning in the Russian Federation”. Work on the project began in August of this year.

It is planned that the project of the regional law on the strategy will be submitted to the Legislature in the spring of 2016. The strategy of the Leningrad region in accordance with the law shall be adopted until the end of 2016.
