Moscow. December 16. Ukraine expects to reach agreement with Russia on the results of tripartite consultations at the Ministerial level, to ease Russian concerns regarding the Association of Ukraine with the EU. Consultations will take place on 21 December in Brussels.
Kiev is ready to discuss the possibility of establishing transitional periods for a number of regulations, but short – within 2 to 3 years, reported to journalists the Deputy Minister of economic development of Ukraine Nataliya Mykolska in Nairobi, where now there passes conference of the WTO
“We have now in Brussels working with the expert yesterday and today. According to my information, they have progressed in the work. On our part, and the European Union have the desire to do something. We hope that the 21 numbers that will agree,” she said.
Answering the question whether Ukraine is demanding Russia to establish a transition period for technical regulations and phytosanitary measures, whenever Russian technical regulations continued to operate on the territory of Ukraine simultaneously with the European, Gaina said: “Transition period the transitional period of strife. If the transition period up to 2025 is not even funny. The whole business much faster adapts to any changes”.
“We have already implemented many of the technical regulations, and no turning back can’t be, because it’s part of our legislation. We can talk about some periods, short – 2-3 years. This is a sufficient transition period,” she said.
The Mykolska emphasized that Ukraine’s position remains unchanged – no changes in the text of the agreement on FTA with the EU will not be made, and it shall enter into force on 1 January.
