The signing of the decree on suspending Russia from January 1 of the Treaty on the free trade zone of the CIS in Ukraine was dictated by the fact that this date will apply as the trade and economic section of the Association agreement between Ukraine and the EU, said Sands.
MOSCOW, 16 Dec. Measures on the suspension from 1 January 2016 to the Treaty on the free trade zone in Ukraine must protect the interests of Russia, said the press Secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
On Wednesday the President signed a decree suspending Russia from 1 January 2016 to the Treaty on the free trade zone of the CIS in Ukraine. First Deputy head of the Russian Ministry of economic development Alexei Likhachev said that this means the introduction of Ukraine duties on most favoured nation treatment.
“The decision is dictated by the fact that from that date (January 1) will begin to apply trade and economic section of the Association agreement between Ukraine and the EU. any legally binding agreements with Russia reached unfortunately was not, so in this case these measures are intended to protect the economic interests of Russia,” Peskov said.
