Moscow. December 16. Minister of agriculture Alexander Tkachev expects that the amendments to the land laws providing for the seizure of land from inefficient owners, will begin in July 2016 or January 2017.
“This is a very important law, I think it should have been taken five years ago, but now, today, this hour,” he said in the TV channel “Russia 24” on Wednesday.
“I hope that the state Duma and the Federation Council will support our initiatives, the bill will be passed and start to work on a maximum from 1 July 2016 or 1 January 2017”, – he added.
President Vladimir Putin earlier instructed the government by June 1, 2016 to provide the legislative basis for the withdrawal of land, not used for designated purpose. “I ask the government to 1 June 2016 to prepare specific proposals, including draft regulations, and state Duma deputies, all members of the Federal Assembly to amend the legislation in the next year and in the autumn-spring session next year to enact appropriate legislation,” – said the President in his address to the Federal Assembly.
According to him, it is necessary to put into circulation millions of hectares of arable land, which is now in the hands of large landowners, but are idle, as many of them are in no hurry to farm.
