MOSCOW, December 17. The reduction of the external debt of the Russian Federation is a positive aspect of Western sanctions against Russia. This opinion was expressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a big press conference.

He called the decline in the debt burden of the country is very important positive indicator. “This is the flip side of the coin, associated with the so – called sanctions,” – said Putin.

The President believes that it would be nice to be able to enter Western markets refinancing, “but, on the other hand, refinancing is also a bad sign”.

Meanwhile, Putin stated that despite all the restrictions, “we had fulfilled all our obligations to our partners, including to foreign credit organizations”. “We are all paid on time and in full”, – added the President. He concluded that the total cumulative debt of the Russian Federation has dropped “and this is a positive thing.”
