Moscow. December 18. LLC “T2 RTC holding” (Tele2) since the commercial launch of the network in Moscow and the Moscow region have connected 1 million subscribers, told the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to sources.
The operator started to provide services in the Metropolitan region almost two months ago, on October 22. For the week 29 October – operator connect 150 thousand subscribers, 20 days after launch – 380 thousand subscribers. By early December, according to “Vedomosti”, Tele2 sold in Moscow and Moscow region 816 thousand sim cards.
According to the results of III quarter, according to AC&M Consulting, the “big three” served in the Moscow region is 41.2 million subscribers. Thus, Tele2 can take 2,43% of this market. A leader in the region according to the size of the subscriber base at the end of September JSC “VimpelCom” (14,38 million customers), followed by PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (13,76 million) and CJSC “MegaFon” (13,05 million). Market shares of the operators were, respectively, 35%, 33% and 32%.
In the Metropolitan region of 500 salons Tele2, the contracts are also sold in 11 thousand points partners, such as “Euroset”, “Svyaznoy”, “Mail of Russia”, the retailer Pyaterochka. Operator contracts were sold in October-November 800 sim cards at the store in a month, told “Vedomosti” one of the partners of the company.
Moscow Tele2 offers subscribers four tariff plan, which is 25-50% cheaper than similar fares competitors on “the big three”. In addition, the operator subsidises the connection of subscribers on the MNP (Mobile Number Portability, mobile number portability). In the first six months since launch, the visitors can go to Tele2 and other operators for free (normally this service costs 100 roubles).
Tele2 network in Moscow includes about 7.5 thousand base stations in 3G and LTE. The network deployed at frequencies of 800 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz. Rossvyaz has allocated Tele2 in the Metropolitan area of 7.5 million numbers in the code 977.
At Tele2 in Moscow there is no GSM frequencies, so the operator does not provide services to the owners of “button” phones, which in the Metropolitan area about 40%. The operator focuses on customers-smartphone users. According to the company, the penetration of 3G devices in the Metropolitan area currently accounts for about 65%, of LTE devices – 14%.
