Separately, the delegates will decide whether the amendment to the Charter to extend to the current Chairman Sergei Mitrokhin and founder of the party Grigory Yavlinsky, who formally fall under its action.

The founder of the party Grigory Yavlinsky has called on Saturday of delegates to support his proposal to limit the stay of one person on a post of the party Chairman to two terms – no more than 8 years. He invited delegates to decide in a separate vote, whether this restriction on him and the current Chairman of the party Sergey Mitrokhin. Both policies are formally subject to such amendments to the Charter, if Congress will approve it without any special reservations.

Mitrokhin – Chairman of the party since 2008, Yavlinsky headed the “Apple” from 1993 to 2008.

Mitrokhin made a speech at the Congress against the adoption of this amendment, stating that he believes such a restriction is undemocratic, that it “would lead to an artificial lowering of the level of competition on a post of the Chairman”. He also noted that such restrictions in the European parties do not have. However, Mitrokhin stressed that he had “no personal grievances” in connection with the proposed amendment to the Charter.
