Matvienko: visa-free regime with Georgia is possible in 2016


Until the end of December will be a simplification of the visa regime between Russia and Georgia, will be taken concessions, said the speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

MOSCOW, 24 Dec. The speaker of the Federation Council of the RF Valentina Matvienko expects that in 2016 will be able to organize visa-free regime between Russia and Georgia.

“I hope that in 2016 will be able to organize visa-free regime between our countries”, — said Matvienko.

According to her, until the end of December will be a simplification of the visa regime between Russia and Georgia, will be taken the relief. Matviyenko noted that “the complete abolition of visas is a somewhat lengthy process”.

“But I hope that next year we will be able to introduce visa-free regime for citizens of Georgia,” she said.

“With the arrival of the new authorities (of Georgia) came new signals to normalize relations. At Ministerial level is the bilateral dialogue”, added Matvienko.

Now Russians can visit Georgia without visas, but citizens of the Republic must obtain a visa to visit Russia. President Vladimir Putin at the large annual press conference on Thursday 17 December said that Moscow is ready to cancel visa regime with Georgia.
