The reason for such measures was deteriorating epizootic situation in Ukraine due to African swine fever. The restrictions will come into force on 1 January 2016.
MOSCOW, 24 Dec. Rosselhoznadzor from January 1, 2016 introduces temporary restrictions on deliveries to Russia pork products from Ukraine, the Agency reports on Thursday.
“The Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance decided to introduce from 1 January 2016, temporary restrictions on import to the Russian Federation of pork products from the entire territory of Ukraine”, — stated in the message.
It is noted that the reason was the worsening of epizootic situation in Ukraine due to African swine fever, which indicates the spread of the virus in the wild fauna, insufficient scale wildlife monitoring studies, and failure to produce comprehensive information on the situation of ASF in the territory of different regions of Ukraine.
Restrictions apply to live pigs, their genetic material, pork and raw pork products, meat of wild boars, horn and hoof and leather, intestinal materials, bristles, finished products containing pork, hunting trophies obtained from the susceptible species of animals.
On Thursday, the Deputy head of service Yevgeny Nepoklonov during telephone conversations informed the Deputy Chairman of the State veterinary and phytosanitary service of Ukraine Oleksandr Versionscope about the introduction by Rosselkhoznadzor of the measures. The Russian side explained in detail the reasons for such action.
