The Presidium of HRC summarized the year at the meeting with Volodin

MOSCOW, December 24. The Presidium of the Council under the RF President on development of civil society and human rights (SPCH) at the meeting with first Deputy head of the presidential administration Vyacheslav Volodin has summed up the year and discussed plans for 2016. About this informed the head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov.

“Today there was another meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin of the Presidium of the presidential Council on human rights. She was devoted to summarizing the results of 2015”, – he said.

Among the results of the year Fedotov called, in particular, the decision on installation in Moscow of a memorial to victims of political repression and the government’s adoption of the concept of the state policy on perpetuating of memory of victims of political repression, the issue of support of socially oriented NGOs, the establishment of a monitoring working group for the HRC elections. “Done, achieved certain results. There are issues that were left unfinished, but the Council is not going to stop. Perseverance is our principle, ” – said Fedotov.

“We have noticed important innovations in the development of socially oriented NGOs, which were announced by the President in his address to the Federal Assembly, and was pleased to see that it is the result of our work together with the Public chamber. And now, at the stage of preparation of legislative acts, the Council will actively participate”, – said the head of the HRC.

Another important direction of work of the Council in 2016 is election monitoring. “We agreed that the experience monitoring working group (HRC member) Ilya Shalinskogo will be demanded on Federal elections, and it is important to maintain the political neutrality that was provided by the fact that the work of the group attracted people of independent, distinguished and authoritative,” said Fedotov.

He also said that the HRC has strengthened its work in the regions. “The Council organizes the work of public oversight, conducting site meetings of its commissions and working groups. This allows to intensify the processes of formation of civil society in the regions”, – said the Chairman of the Board.
